POSITION SPECIFICS

The Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science at Penn State (University Park, PA) announces a Postdoctoral Scholar position for analysis of observations of atmospheric turbulence. The candidate will study the structure of atmospheric surface layer turbulence, comparing high-resolution observations to numerical models with the aim of evaluating and improving our ability to simulate said turbulent flows. The successful candidate will have experience in the study of atmospheric turbulence and the ability to engage in analysis of observations and simulations of atmospheric turbulence.


Responsibilities:
Analysis of observations and numerical simulations of turbulence in the atmospheric surface layer.
Lead or support peer-reviewed publications built around these analyses.


Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. in atmospheric science or a related field by the time of hire.

  • Experience studying atmospheric turbulence and associated statistical methods.

  • A demonstrated record of publication in the study of atmospheric turbulence.

  • Strong computational skills.

  • Good communications and writing skills.
