POSITION SUMMARY:
TheLab Technician I will work in the CarpenterLab performing cell culture,
supervising undergraduate research, assisting
with training students, and maintaining
reagents.
This position is
a grant funded position.
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research: The candidate will perform research on funded research aims as designated by Dr.
Carpenter. The activities may include cell culture, reagent isolation,
characterization, and production of publication quality figures. The candidate
will log all research activities and manage data for sharing according to NIH
data management and sharing protocols.
Supporting Undergraduate Research: The
candidate will help Dr. Carpenter mentor Undergraduate research activities in
the lab. This may include assisting students with maintenance of cell culture,
re-training students to run experiments after training by Dr. Carpenter, and
supervision of undergraduates when Dr. Carpenter cannot be present.
Reagents and inventory management: This may include preparing
aliquots, preparing and autoclaving solutions, and
maintaining lab inventory logs.
Completes other
duties as assigned.
Minimum
qualifications:
Master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology or biological sciences
from an accredited educational institution and 1-3 years of work-related
experience.
The candidate must have 1 year work experience in a post-bachelor’s laboratory setting.
Preferred
qualifications:
Master’s degree in pharmacology and toxicology or biochemistry from an
accredited educational institution.
One year of work in a research laboratory setting and 1 year of training in a post bachelor’s
thesis-track educational setting.

of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities
