Now Hiring: Public School Law Attorney &- Special Education Focus Location: Pittsburgh, PA Work Setting: Strictly In-Office Experience: 7 Years Preferred Salary: $140,000 (DOE)

Are you passionate about education law and making a meaningful impact on public schools and communities A highly respected firm in Pittsburgh is seeking a Public School Law Attorney with a Special Education focus to join its growing Public Law Team. This is an exciting opportunity to serve as solicitor and special counsel to school districts, advising boards and administrators on critical legal and governance matters that shape public education.

  • Competitive Salary: $140,000 (DOE)

  • Bonus Opportunities:

    • $3,000 bonus for hitting 1,800 billable hours

    • $5,000 bonus for hitting 1,950 billable hours

    • Additional discretionary bonuses ($2,500&-$7,500 ) based on performance

  • Origination Incentives:

    • 20% of receipts in year one for new clients you bring in

    • 10% of receipts in year two

What You’ll Do

As a Public School Law Attorney, you will:

Advise on Special Education Law Provide legal guidance on IDEA and Section 504 compliance (minimum 5 years required).

Support School District Leadership Counsel boards, administrators, and district leadership on governance, compliance, and policy matters.

Address Student Rights & Discipline Issues Provide guidance on policies impacting students and school operations.

Handle Employment & Labor Law Matters Assist with employment issues and collective bargaining negotiations.

Advise on Facilities & Financial Planning Support districts on construction projects, facility planning, and financial strategies.

Attend School Board Meetings Present legal guidance during evening board meetings when necessary.

‍ Who You Are

  • Licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania

  • 7 years of school law experience preferred (less considered if heavily focused on special education)

  • Strong knowledge of IDEA and Section 504 compliance

  • Experience advising school boards and district leadership

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Comfortable attending evening school board meetings as needed
