Carlow University invites applications for adjunct faculty positions in the Master of Science (MSOT) and entry-level Doctorate (OTD) in Occupational Therapy programs for Fall 2026. As a member of the MSOT/OTD programs, adjunct faculty represent occupational therapy leadership committed to the programs mission.
The Occupational Therapy program is committed to assembling a faculty team grounded in the Mercy perspective and Catholic identity and is focused on creating a transformational learning environment that prepares students for todays healthcare environment and tomorrows challenges.
Appointment & Teaching Areas
The department is seeking to recruit at least two adjunct instructors for Fall 2026. Course assignments are flexible based on candidate expertise and program needs. Priority areas include:
Foundations of Occupational Therapy
Anatomy and Biomechanics
Neuroscience
Community and/or Population Health
Adjunct faculty will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues, support an interprofessional learning environment, and foster student learning and professional development.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Teach graduate-level courses in the Occupational Therapy program
Demonstrate teaching expertise in assigned content areas
Facilitate student engagement, critical thinking, and professional growth
Collaborate with faculty to support curriculum development and program goals
Required Skills/Abilities
Demonstrated expertise in the academic subject area
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Ability to present effectively in academic and professional settings
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
Problem-solving skills and ability to address programmatic challenges
Proficiency with instructional and computer technologies
Ability to contribute to short- and long-term planning of program activities
Qualifications
Occupational Therapist with NBCOT certification
Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Pennsylvania
Minimum of two (2) years of post-licensure clinical experience
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills
Experience supporting interprofessional education and practice
Evidence of community and/or professional service
Commitment to the educational mission of Carlow University
Preferred Qualifications
Five (5) or more years of post-licensure clinical experience
Prior teaching experience at the university level
Experience in one or more priority content areas (foundations, biomechanics, neuroscience, community/population health)
Required Educational Qualifications
Earned Master of Science or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy
