Job Description

The Clinical Improvement Specialist Designer/Engineer advances the execution of organizational clinical strategic improvement through the analysis of data to identify opportunities, evaluation of technology that supports the workflow, recommends solutions based on best practice, and implements changes to improve clinical outcomes.

- Leverage deep knowledge of health care operations, patient care, quality and safety to evaluate the

current state, in relation to the organizations goal, quality outcomes and patient safety, apply

systems science, usability, HFE concepts, informatics best practice, synthesize findings and

recommendations, communicate to stakeholders, gain alignment, and implement improvement and

monitor outcomes

- Understand complexity of patient journey through acute care and ambulatory setting.

- Develop, lead, and execute innovative strategies to advance value-based decision-making and

improve system efficiency and quality. Knowledge of payor contracting and reimbursement models.

- Apply research and evidence-based practice to identify optimal solutions.

- Engages in design of workflow to support key quality/safety initiatives and systems improvement

with nursing and physician leadership, informatics, analytics, population health and the entire

OnPoint team across service lines, ambulatory, post-acute, inpatient and community.

- Employs/Understands and applies informatics theory, assesses purpose and usability of critical

workflows within the EMR and assists in triage and prioritization of significant opportunities for

improvement. Able to design system improvements through workflows and technology

- Champions utilization of technology to drive performance in quality, value and safety across all

pillars of clinical care through usability analysis and human factors engineering principles

- Collaborates with IS&T and Informatics to ensure processes and infrastructure to capture critical

patient information to support prioritization and drive improvement

- Employs data analytics expertise to recognize the opportunities to improve patient-oriented quality

outcomes

- Identifies meaningful opportunities to align clinical improvement efforts with cost reduction efforts

(ie. Clinical variation, utilization)

- Obtains and utilizes data to analyze the EMR to ensure efficient and effective processes of care,

with specific focus on non-acute environments.

- Possesses advanced skills in Excel SQL, and Business Intelligence tools (e.g.Qlik, Tableau, Power BI)

- Ability to coordinate and lead organization wide initiatives and improvement work

- Advance strategic plan on a page to ensure clarity of budget/resources, timeline/schedule, and

scope of work

- Demonstrates clear communication skills and ability to present data and findings in a succinct way

to engage diverse teams

- Leverages a One Jefferson approach to support deployment of standard processes across pillars to drive priority clinical integration activities.

- Fosters strong relationships with clinical operations to support achievement of high priority

strategic plans and KPIs

- Assists operations to identify key performance indicators, and provides guidance/recommendations

for visualization concepts and access/distribution strategy across the organization

- Maps workflows and creates flow charts using advanced Visio skills to provide context for critical

decision-making and strategy communication with IS&T and organizational operations

- Promotes overarching efforts of OnPoint Program to improve equity, experience, quality, safety and

population health across all pillars

- Applies relevant systems and safety science to all high impact organizational clinical quality

improvement efforts

- Aligns with value-based contract high impact priorities and supports plans to achieve goals working

in partnership with divisional leadership, population health, and JMG leadership

- Develops and maintains trusting relationships with key stakeholders to foster collaborative

improvement efforts.

Education:

BS in relevant clinical field, Healthcare Administration, Quality and Safety, or Informatics. 7 years’

experience in analytics, informatics or quality improvement.

Experience:

- Proven ability to work in teams with diverse backgrounds and experiences

- Superior interpersonal management skills and emotional intelligence

- Extensive experience overseeing large, complex projects, in a dynamic healthcare

environment and within other healthcare organizations
