Develop/revise curriculum plan to meet the trimester objectives

Implement course of study, utilizing a variety of teaching strategies, including special student projects, demonstrations, and instructional activities.

Arrange for guest speakers or representatives of various health care services to enhance learning or supplement instruction.

Observes/supervise students in the performance of duties in various clinical areas and evaluate effectiveness and correctness of procedures and techniques. Complete clinical evaluations and trimester evaluations.

Provide the clinical location with a monthly schedule including the dates and times that the students will be on site, along with the student’s names and the unit they are assigned to.

Supervise a clinical group that does not exceed fifteen (15) students

Conduct clinical evaluations of the students at a minimum of every sixteen (16) weeks or a minimum of every eight (8) weeks for those students who are on probation.

Provide clinical instruction in regards to ethical and legal obligations of the practice of nursing, including confidentially of the patient information and medical records

Provide instruction to safeguard the confidential information acquired from, any source about the patient from unauthorized individuals at all times.

While in the clinical area ensure that the students are in approved clinical uniform

Provide supervision of the practical nursing students while in the clinical area. While in the clinical area the students and instructors are subject to the rules and regulations of the facility.

Supervise the clinical experience for students, not to exceed a total of thirty-five (35) hours per week including class setting

During the student’s preceptorship the instructor/faculty will regularly visit the assigned preceptor site to supervise the students. The instructor/faculty will assist the students and preceptor in establishing and modifying learning objectives and selecting learning experiences.

The instructor/faculty will ensure the number of students assigned to a preceptor location does not exceed eight (8) students, and that the preceptor to student ratio is one to one

Provide student services and advisement as outlined in policy in student handbook.

Promote and maintain positive interpersonal and interdepartmental relationships with patients/families, staff and auxiliary personnel. Assist in the arbitration of or referral of problems arising from students, staff or patients

Arrange with appropriate nursing service personnel and/or physician for student learning experiences/observations

Make progressive student assignments to ensure concurrent nursing experience based on student classroom theory and past clinical experiences

Review and grade student case studies, care plans, self-evaluations, and observational reports. Review written evaluations with students and provide counsel as needed

Maintain student academic and clinical files.

Function autonomously in role, yet collaborates and consults with director on all matters pertaining to schedule changes as well as problematic issues at clinical sites

Participate in a faculty organization and assist with the formulation of policies and procedures. Write concise minutes that reflect discussion and actions

Functions as a faculty advisor for the Student Nurse Organization (SNO). Advises on the development of projects and oversees specific duties such as SNO minutes

Functions as a faculty advisor to the Library Committee. Oversees the trimester library inventory. Provides minutes of Library Committee meetings

Participate in the Systematic Program Evaluation Plan of all aspects of the program. Make recommendations for overall program improvement

Assist with the review and selection of applicants for the program

Keep abreast of current trends in nursing and education through continuing education, nursing journals, and professional organizations

Participates in organization/planning of graduation activities, including rehearsal, the ceremony and clean-up

Perform other related duties as assigned by authorized personnel and as required to meet emergency situations.
