Job Summary

This is a multi-functional position that is responsible for testing, maintaining, & installing C.P. systems and Pipeline Integrity requirements, including corrosion control support on steel pipeline projects. This position aids in training and guiding other technicians in the department as well as Operations Department members as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Test, troubleshoot, remediate and maintain existing cathodic protection systems and equipment with limited supervision.
  • Direct and assist the installation of cathodic protection systems for mains
  • and services.
  • Coordinate and support new steel pipeline installations and appurtenances related to corrosion control.
  • Support TIMP assessments and Pipeline Integrity activities.
  • Design and inspect cathodic protection systems for services and smaller coated main
  • segments. Evaluate existing non-cathodically protected services or mains for potential future protection.
  • Update and maintain CP system maps and records for services and mains in GIS and CP databases with associated analysis when required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the UGI-CPG or equivalent operation & construction practice with emphasis on steel pipelines.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively both written & verbal.
  • Proficiency w/ PC related applications including applications including word processing, spreadsheets, & data base accessing and utilization
  • All Safety Policies must be followed and adhered to
  • D.O.T. 'Operator Qualification' Training
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma. Two (2) year technical degree or higher with experience on basic electrical circuits and chemistry.
  • 3 to 5 years Pipeline Corrosion Control experience preferred including design, installation, monitoring, & troubleshooting.
  • NACE certification is desirable with the expectation that NACE certification will be obtained.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license. CDL is optional but is a plus
  • Needs to exercise good logic, handle multiple work assignments concurrently and prioritize work assignments as needed along with possessing good communication skills when making decisions and working with others. Must be able to handle stressful situations.
