The
Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at East Stroudsburg University (ESU)
invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor with a
specialty in biochemistry starting in August 2026. Appointment at the Assistant
or Associate Professor level will be commensurate with qualifications and
experience. For full consideration, applications should be received by 2/28/26.

The successful candidate will demonstrate highly effective teaching and
enthusiasm for advising and mentoring a diverse population of undergraduate
students. Primary responsibilities include teaching biochemistry and associated
laboratory courses. Additional teaching responsibilities may include general
chemistry, non-majors' courses, and upper-division offerings in the candidate’s
area of expertise. An active research program involving undergraduate students
is expected. Faculty contribute to university service by participating in
activities including committee memberships, curriculum development, and
outreach.
The Department's Chemistry and Biochemistry programs are accredited by the
American Chemical Society (ACS) and the American Society for Biochemistry and
Molecular Biology (ASBMB). The department is located in the Hoeffner Science
and Technology Center and houses 13 dedicated teaching and research
laboratories, a cold room, and modern faculty offices. The department maintains
an impressive suite of instrumentation including a Bruker 400 MHz NMR, Agilent
LC/Q-TOF Mass Spectrometer, GC/MS, HPLCs, IR, UV/Vis, and fluorescence spectrometer.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or closely related field must be completed prior to appointment.
Previous experience or demonstrated ability to teach biochemistry and general chemistry is preferred.
A record of peer-reviewed publications is highly desirable, as is experience in obtaining external funding.
Experience or interest in curriculum and course development is advantageous.
